New music 📀📀 ‘Tabloid Newspaper’ is the newest single by @hotelluxband. Our Chiara has been waiting for this release since at least last March, and it’s safe to say it hasn’t disappointed, having her convinced they’re ‘one of the most interesting bands making the rounds in the UK at the moment’.

The track’s release definitely appears to have been aptly timed in the run up to the General Election with tabloids rife with the misrepresentation of fact. The band play no stranger to this, but rather than a ‘political commentary’ serve up a ‘j’accuse about the music industry’ while demonstrating their starkest shift in musical style, ‘the most punk they’ve ever sounded’ but also incorporating alternative rock and Brit pop.

Live review 🎤🎧 Our writer, Megan was lucky enough to join Sheffield based, @floodhounds at @record_junkee , their biggest hometown gig to date where she was treated to not one, not two, but three cracking sets of live music.

Expertly executing the headline slot was @floodhounds. It’s clear there was great sentiment behind their performance, this mimicked in both the crowd and band’s actions. With a surprise interlude of The Specials’ track, ‘Ghost Town’, the set contained ‘many a highlight’ with fan favourites such as ‘Take it Too Far’, but the band also premiered a couple of newbies, one being, ‘Out of Time’ set for release on the 6th (full review to follow)!

Getting the crowd going beforehand was @sadlydanband who excellently brought ‘an air of comedy’ to the night’s proceedings. But nonetheless, paired with the front mans bold stage outfit, the band delivered a stunning set, expelling a sense of ‘beautiful chaos’.

Not to be forgotten is show opener’s @concretearmbands. Despite the scattered crowd, they certainly didn't mimic the dreary weather outside. Instead, ‘the band’s intoxicating energy and fun attitude never showed any sign of halting’.

New music 📀📀 ‘Honest Man’ is the new track by @saytrplay. Filled with ‘pure, nostalgic feelings and a cheeky promise of endless good times ahead’, the band prove they’re not just another Manchester export.

With the band ‘playing their most direct message’ in the track, it’s really symbolic of both ‘natural audio evolution of both man and music’. But at detriment to this, the track proves near fatal for your heart strings. It’s safe to say the dirty, flirty Saytr Play boys have left our Lauren wondering if it’s possible to take a piece of music home to meet your mum!

New music 📀📀 ‘Talk Tonight’ is the latest release by @wavechaseband. With a @circawaves -esque energy, the track satisfies your indie needs with brooding lyrics, pining for the chance to talk to an ex lover.

The track provides a great ‘aha’ moment. Opening with a dial tone, serving a voicemail later on and closing with a hang up, you’re thrown straight into a phone call simulation with ‘the use of skilful production techniques’ making the track both an ‘interesting and entertaining’ listen.

New music 📀📀 @theslumdogs are back with their latest track, ‘Brainwashed’. The track most definitely demonstrates a maturing of the band’s sound in the direction of something more ‘polished’ while still retaining their ‘punk attitude and incredibly infectious riffs’.

The track comes with a bonus b side in the form of ‘The Ballad of Phaedra Bleu’! While being a much ‘softer’, ‘dreamy’ example, the band’s ‘strength and memorable melodies’ still shine through.
