Erotic Secrets of Pompeii release their first track of 2020!
There’s always a first time for everything, and this is the first time we feature Erotic Secrets of Pompeii. After releasing their debut album Witness in the House of Pox in 2019, the band have been fairly quiet in 2020. That all changes with the release of ‘They Wouldn’t Let Me Write My Book’.
The opening of the tracks is loud and room filling, as this loud fuzz is played out as lead singer Thomas Hawtin tells you about all of the things he was told could set him free. Shortly after the intro we drop a tone as it gets quieter, however making the next punch even more brutal.
The sound has a very IDLES feel to it, but with the less aggressive vocals, and it works. The band take influences from Nick Cave and Talking Heads which seeps through with the unique production of the band. They utlise the sonic elements joint with this poignant drums, being the driving force behind the track.
Really enjoyed this from Erotic Secrets of Pompeii, so much so I’m looking forward to what comes next and I will be diving into their debut album later today! Looking forward to what comes next!
