Flood Hounds receive Single of the Week for their First track of 2019!
‘Stepping Stone’ is the new single to come from Sheffield trio Flood Hounds following their latest catchy release ‘Take It Too Far’. Recorded at MUStudios in Sheffield with producer Martin Smith. This belter of a tune incorporates classic elements of rock and roll alongside a sweet yet heavy sound.
It is also the band’s second track to feature new(ish) bassist Joel Hughes, who made his debut when I was lucky enough to witness Flood Hounds support a sold-out Blinders gig in Derby early last year. The track begins abruptly with an inviting, rollicking riff; this contagious energy continued throughout. Jack’s lead vocals have an almost Jake Bugg-esque kind of vibe to them, delivering darker lyrics such as; ‘leave me drowning at the riverside cause I just want to get by’, which are perfectly complimented by Joel’s murky bassline. Lauren’s drums drive the track with a foot-stomping beat, making it an exhilarating number to play live.
All of this combines perfectly to create yet another very strong and pleasing track to come from these rising stars.
