Interview | Paper Buoys Answer 10 Questions

A few weeks after the release of their new track ‘In Faith So Blind’ we managed to catch up with the talented Birmingham band to talk some music, as they take on the 10 Questions!

Where did your band name come from?

It took us ages to decide on a name. It’s a bit like naming a baby but there’s four parents. I think we ended up just sending words backwards and forwards on our band chat and that’s what came out.

What made you want to get into music?

It’s all we’ve ever really wanted to do since we first picked up our instruments. Probably a mixture of our parents taste’s in music at an early age, what our friends were doing or listening to at school and just the whole experience of making music.

Best venue you’ve ever played and why?

Danny Dyers Dungeon Diner

One band/artist you’d love to support?

IDLES

What’s the greatest love song ever written?

I need my girl by The National

The best album that you’ve heard this year?

Joy as an act of resistance by IDLES

Most underrated band/artist of all time?

PAPER BUOYS of course

What was the last song you streamed on Spotify?

Merrie land by The Good, The Bad and The Queen

Which three artists/bands should we be looking out for? (Musically, not for Criminal Offences)

The Pagans S.O.H are a really exciting new hiphop/rock band who we’ve recently collaborated with. There’s a great punky reggae band from Birmingham called Lobster who are currently working on their debut album with Gavin Monaghan at Magic Garden and also check out Hunger Moon for something more mellow.

What do you want to accomplish next as a band?

We’re recording our second full length album at the moment and want to tour and play some festivals in 2019.
