Bombay Bicycle Club – Birmingham 02 Academy Review – 8th March 2014

Bombay Bicycle Club

It was no surprise when Bombay Bicycle Club once again sold out the main room of the O2 Academy Birmingham.  Expectations were high for the London four piece on Saturday night as they brought their latest album tour to Birmingham.

Opening with Overdone from the new album So Long, See You Tomorrow, it was clear this night would live up to the high expectations of an energetic, passionate BBC gig. As well as musically impressive the band were showing off an impressive visual back drop, an animated version of the album cover going through a cycle of night and day.

The audiences feet did not touch the ground as they continued to jump and dance to new and classic songs a like. Playing tracks like Shuffle and Dust On The Ground each song was met with cheers and plenty of teens screaming the lyrics back at the band.

Ending on the appropriately named track for a final song, So Long, See You Tomorrow, BBC were summoned back on stage with an eruption of claps and chants for an encore. They returned to ecstatic fans and played two final tracks What If and Carry Me with the audience gathering whatever little energy they had left to scream and dance as much as they could till Bombay Bicycle Club left the stage to one final eruption of cheers.

BBC as always did not disappoint with a manic, spirited performance, giving a crowd pleasing set list spanning their career.  If you haven’t already they should be a band you go see live whenever you get a chance as they are one band that never fall short of perfection live.
